Client Brief

DV8 Designs were appointed by YKK UK Ltd, a world-renowned provider of fastening solutions, to redesign their showroom area at their factory near Preston Brook.

The primary need of the client was to improve the existing showroom to create a new client facing space, with a strong brand identity & display solution. As a secondary brief the client asked us to re-design the Canteen area to improve the functionality & look of this space for their staff as an added benefit to the refurbishment.

Objective

YKK required an inviting scheme to create interest for both potential & existing clients. With the comfort and functionality for staff & clients at the forefront of their needs, so that the space operates well with an improved aesthetic overall.

Approach

The existing Showroom was a lack lustre open-plan office shell & very unappealing to visitors. Our aim was to create a flexible corporate space with a colour scheme representative of the brand.

Using company colours to dictate our direction the idea was to form a bold & eye-catching client-facing space with moveable display cases to provide the client with flexibility & the ability to showcase their products in a unique way.

We also devised a plan to zone & partition the space to create new pockets of activity including relaxing break-out spaces, an area for refreshments and an acoustic rated glazed meeting room for private meetings & presentations.

Outcome

The finished space was a vast improvement & provided the client with a HQ with a strong undeniable brand identity, encouraging staff to push their Business Development with confidence in the facilities & equipment at their disposal.

Previously Staff used to bring the product in and lay them on any surface available within the space, but the new scheme allowed staff the ability to display their products on the new permanent mannequins within the space – within illuminated display cases which could move to various locations around the showroom to suit the client.

The dining room was also given a new lease of life with vibrant colours, new fittings & furniture including a new modern kitchenette incorporated within the space, all of which created a visual impact & enhanced services for both staff & visitors, improving well-being overall.
