This month, we are celebrating the launch of Salt and Tar, a 3000-capacity social hub and event space, which marks a significant milestone in the regeneration of Bootle, Merseyside, and will provide a welcome space for residents to enjoy live entertainment, cultural events and monthly street food socials. Leveraging DV8 Designs’ expertise in breathing new life into former forgotten and unloved spaces, Salt and Tar has been meticulously transformed into a dynamic, commercially viable, and sustainable new neighbourhood destination.

This new, iconic food, drink, social and events destination is a perfect example of design rooted in environmentally sustainability, with stacked containers creating a unique ambience, combining rustic finishes with recycled structures and materials. The interior design incorporates feature lighting that accentuates the space and pays homage to Bootle’s industrial past and the town’s rich industrial heritage with the Brotherton’s Tar Distillery on Hawthorne Road and the area’s historic link to the salt trade.
Salt and Tar’s strategic location and thoughtful design elements curated by DV8 Designs have revitalised the area, attracting residents, visitors, community groups and businesses alike. By reimagining the space using an electric mix of colourful and upcycled elements, complimented by rooftop gardens and playful graphics, Salt and Tar has become a catalyst for positive change, breathing new life into the heart of Bootle.
